Dazzling Stranger – New Edition
A new edition of the Bert Jansch biography Dazzling Stranger, originally published in 2000, is being published by Bloomsbury in late August 2006. In addition to a new cover design (featuring a previously unpublished Brian Shuel photo of Bert from 1963), new Author’s Note, updated Epilogue and new foreword by Johnny Marr. The 2006 edition includes a 10,000 word discographical appendix.

Colin Harper / Tina McSherry on BBC NI TV
The Tina McSherry quartet – featuring Colin Harper (guitar), Ali MacKenzie (bass) and Davy Kennedy (drums) – will be featured at some point in June on the BBC NI TV series SRL. They perform two songs: a Gaelic language version of Yeats’ ‘The Sally Gardens’ and Tina’s own ‘Walk With Me’. Both songs were recorded live at the BBC in March and then mimed to (endlessly!) at The King’s Head in Belfast. Check TV listings guides for details.

Pentangle Box set
A 4CD Pentangle box set, probably entitled The Time Has Come: 1967-73, is currently at the design stage (designed by the fabulous Phil Smee) and should be released around September 2006. Researched, compiled, annotated and co-mastered – along with studio wizard Cormac O’Kane - by Colin H it features 72 tracks of which 30 are unreleased. In addition to a 45,000 word essay on the group’s history the package will contain many rare visuals and extensive chronological information on their concerts, recordings, TV/radio appearances and live repertoire.

Colin Harper: The Website
Thanks to Maurice Milligan, who has not only designed this site but sort of talked me into it in the first place. If you think it looks the part, Maurice is available for hire at a very competitive rate. Contact him at www.westburngraphics.co.uk or mauricemilligan@mac.com. As for this site, it’s primarily an umbrella for all the various projects I’m involved in at present and a shop window for various products – books and CDs – though not a shop as such. In other words, I’m not selling anything directly but you’ll find links to those who are. The site will be updated at a fairly leisurely pace – whenever there’s something coming up that I’ve been involved in, this news section will have the info, while the main content will be updated or added to more occasionally. Thanks for visiting!
